Eclectic – Deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad, diverse range of sources.
Fence Post – Wooden or metal post set in the ground as a supporting part of a fence.
I think this an ideal name for a blog of the kind I seek to write. First of all, I wish to feel free to write about most anything that catches my fancy or interest along the way. Besides, I have no niche of any kind to focus a blog on. I have no specialties! And anyway, I think it’s more fun to just write about a variety of stuff. Variety – spice – life – that’s the idea!
And what better place to observe all this variety than from sitting atop a fence post. It’s quite the vantage point. When I was working and in small town politics, it sometimes helped me see life better if I removed myself from whatever was going on around me by hoisting myself on top of the old fence post to just observe everything and everyone from a detached, objective place.
I could then see things hidden from my senses while on the ground. Issues became clearer, people were easier to discern; solutions to “problems” were enhanced. It is a marvelous perch from which to view life, and actually make some sense of it!
I used to tell the folks I was responsible for, that if they could only master that ability – to separate themselves from the crowd, climb up on the fence, and observe, they would see a world new to them. And that view could really help them in many ways.
You ought to try it as well.
Mark Twain quote:
“Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.”
